anw finished watching death note anime early in the morning and firstly have to say, death note is fckin' intense and good. i'd recommend to anyone who wants to watch an anime that can hook you to your chair for the whole day. its like cliff-hanging suspense in every episode, with a little horror (a few rather scary scenes of death gods?), and the mystery in the show completely thrills me. i love this kind of mystery + suspense + a little horror kinda genre. esp. the last episode. it was really satisfying - dramatic, violent and yet beautiful. and looking deeper into the anime, i thought death note conveys really meaningful, impactful and powerful messages to humankind. do we have the right to kill, even if the people we kill are criminals who have done bad, or even fugitives awaiting a death sentence? think about that.
BUT the main part of my post today is on the iPhone, so we shall leave Death Note aside :P
as i was saying earlier, finished watching death note early in the morning and found nothing to do. no anime, no games, nothing. sad. and dexter talked to me, asked me what's a billing address and eventually explained he was ordering an iPod nano, as a birthday gift from his parents. so cheers, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to dexter lim! hope you have luck in your future endeavours and do well in the current hockey competition! fight all the way, i'll be there to support benjamin and you during the finals =) i know your coach doesnt let you play at times, but you'll definitely get many chances to play and shine, so don't worry k? --now back to iPhone (why is this post digressing to so many things?)--
so i went to checkup ordering iPod nano online and then got really interested in iPhone. Go to here if you want to see the actual website i went to.
ok firstly, the iPhone comes in 2 colours, the black one (on the left) is only available in both 8GB and 16GB versions, while the white one (right) is available only in the 16GB version. it's obviously TOUCH-SCREEN, and compared to the iPod Touch, it has phone capabilities, which makes it a far more worthwhile expense. I want a phone that can be a music/video player and a phone itself, and this iPhone basically provides me everything, and would allow me to save money from buying another mp3 player. furthermore, it has so many capabilities and features, take a look:
as you can see, the iPhone is able to rotate its view screen, such that when the iPhone is horizontal, what you see is well, turned horizontal. this is one thing that i find really useful and really cool.
the picture shows the Home Screen, where a simple touch can take you to any function that the iPhone possesses.
making calls looks cool and easy, doesnt it? just a simple tap on the contact and there you go. the only thing i worry about for this function is that when you put the phone to your ear to listen, your face might accidentally press any button and this could really be a hassle. guess earphones should be a better solution when taking calls. furthermore, the iPhone can access your emails, if i'm not wrong, as long as it's accessible on an online browser, it can be done on the iPhone, with all the 3G capabilities. the iPhone features Safari too, which is a web browser, so i guess that's really useful, though i believe i wont be using this function much.
this is what i LOVE about the iPhone. the iPod in it. this part of it is exactly the same as an iPod Touch, the scrolling through all the music with only your finger, the 3.5" widescreen display and good-quality sound. this is what attracted me the most. and you can watch videos on it too, with its 3.5" screen, its a lot better than many mp3/video players on the market.
i thought this new interface for sms was quite cool! the smses are arranged in a chat-style, so it becomes sort of like a msn conversation! this way, it's easier to track what you and the recipient you have said and it makes conversing so much more easier and convenient! the only setback, i believe, of this new sms interface is the simple fact that typing is touch-screen. i think this effectively slows down our sms typing speed, esp of teenagers. and there's always the trouble of pressing the wrong letters easily and having to delete.
the GPS function, i thought, wasn't that much useful to me. i dont think i'll need to find my location on a map. mayb the only way i could use it is to get directions from one place to another. if this function does work well, it will be really quite useful, since it saves me the trouble of having to go to streetdirectory.com to find out how to go somewhere.
i like this function quite a lot. the way the calendar works seems to be a lot better than how it works in my current phone. for example, the calendar allows you to plan events that will happen at certain times, but in my current phone, what you have to do is to set a time-frame for the event, and that's all there is to it. in any case, calendar's definitely useful. once again, problem could be typing. the iPhone offers the service of Youtube too, but since my parents will probably disapprove of me using my phone to access Youtube, i wont talk about it. just thought that its quite impressive to use Youtube on phone, but then, the screen's kinda small if you want to watch a movie/anime.
this function attracted me too. it's like even easier scrolling and viewing of pictures than on the computer. camera's 2 mega pixels, not very attractive, but enough for my needs. **coughcoughi'mnotlinjincoughcough** and the iPhone offers stocks, weather, notes too. stocks is definitely useless to me, but maybe my parents could use it any time? weather is quite useful, could always use it to decide whether i should go down for any sports. notes too, but i thought calendar should be sufficient in this aspect.
see? this function's way cool. normal calculator when vertical, and when horizontal, it changes into a scientific calculator! just what i need! really good that it has scientific calculator, which i believe no other phone has to date.
so, interested now? :P
